This family sculpture represents a three-generation family tree. The large horizontal parallelogram represents the first generation or, the grandparents. By framing the other pieces in the sculpture, this shape represents the connectivity of the family. The four smaller parallelograms represent the second generation or, the children. Each stands alone, in an individual space, yet part of the overall group. The eleven circles represent the children of each sibling, the third generation or, the grandchildren. The circles are spaced randomly and independently, yet part of their parents, to indicate youth and their place in the family. |
